New Director at Eating Disorders Center of Denver

contributed by Donna Feldman, MS, RD:

In late 2007, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Carolyn Ross, the new medical director of the Eating Disorder Center of Denver, when she hosted a dinner for Boulder County-based practitioners.  Dr. Ross has an extensive background in women’s health, particularly eating disorders.  She trained at Dr. Andrew Weil’s integrative medicine program in Arizona, and headed eating disorder treatment programs in Tucson and San Diego.  Her support for complementary and alternative treatments was impressive.  EDCD uses an empowerment model of treatment, and a team of providers creates an individual plan for each client, addressing physical, emotional, social, spiritual and nutritional needs.  While the EDCD isn’t in Boulder County, it is a valuable resource for Boulder-based patients (16 or older) who need intensive intervention.  Outpatient, partial hospitalization and evening outpatient programs are available.  For more information about the EDCD programs, visit their website: www.edcdenver.com.
